...The Tennessee Valley Chapter’s Medaris Award was created in honor of Major General John Bruce Medaris (USA Retired), former Commander, U.S. Army Ordnance Missile Command. MG Medaris has been cited for the brilliant leadership and direction he provided to his command and the significant contributions he made to the field of missile system technology.
... The Tennessee Valley Chapter presented its first Medaris Award in 1981 and has since then annually recognized an individual who has demonstrated technical excellence in promoting the defense preparedness of our great nation.
